We are pleased to announce the dates for British Columbia’s 2012 Local Government Awareness Week: May 20 – 26, 2012
Local Government Awareness Week is held in conjunction with National Public Works Week to generate awareness and to educate the public about the roles and responsibilities of local government, including boards of education, and to encourage the public to participate in local government processes.
In 2012, the Union of BC Municipalities will once again have a Community Excellence Award for “Best Practices, Civic Engagement”. Nomination packages will be available in late spring or early summer.
This is an excellent way to share your success stories, and highlight your community’s Local Government Awareness Week activities.
If you would like to view UBCM Community Excellence Award nominations from past years, they can be found here.
British Columbia’s municipalities and regional districts celebrate Local Government Awareness Week in a variety of different ways. These are just some of the activities that were brought to our attention following Local Government Awareness Week 2011.
